Why targeting matters
Promotion targeting decides which products qualify for offers and which products should be protected from discounts. Good targeting reduces accidental margin loss.
Include rules
Use include rules to define products, categories, stock groups, or future target types that should participate in an offer.
Exclude rules
Use exclude rules to protect products that should not receive the discount. Exclusions are especially important for low-margin, premium, clearance, or restricted products.
Runtime matching note
If target products are identified at runtime, test performance on larger catalogs. For large stores, consider indexing target IDs or caching rule matches where appropriate.
