Product Tags targeting applies promotions to products that have specific WooCommerce tags. Unlike categories (which are for catalog organization), tags are better suited for marketing campaigns, temporary collections, and cross-category promotions. Requires Ezhance Pro.
How It Works
Ezhance checks the tags assigned to each product. If a product has any of the selected tags, it becomes eligible for the promotion. A product only needs one matching tag to qualify.
Configuration
In the promotion editor, go to the Target Selection tab. Choose Product Tags and search for your WooCommerce product tags.
Use Cases
- Seasonal campaigns — Tag summer products with "Summer" and target that tag for a seasonal sale
- Featured products — Tag selected products as "Featured" and discount that collection
- Clearance — Tag excess inventory as "Clearance" and apply a tiered discount
- Cross-category bundles — Tag products from different categories and apply a single promotion across all of them
- Temporary collections — Create a tag for a flash sale that spans multiple categories
Tags vs. Categories
| Use Categories When | Use Tags When |
|---|---|
| Organizing your product catalog | Running a marketing campaign |
| Permanent product groupings | Temporary or seasonal collections |
| Large collections (hundreds of products) | Cross-category selections |
Best Practices
- Use tags exclusively for marketing purposes, not for catalog organization (that's what categories are for).
- Keep your tag names consistent — "Summer," "summer," and "SUMMER" are different tags.
- Remember to assign the tag to the relevant products before activating the promotion.
- Remove temporary campaign tags from products after a promotion ends to keep your catalog clean.
