If the discount being applied is higher or lower than expected, one of these factors is usually responsible. Work through them in order.
Check the Price Source
Ezhance can calculate discounts from either the Regular Price or the Sale Price. This setting is in Ezhance → Settings → Price Source.
- Regular Price source: 10% off a $100 regular price = $10 off → $90
- Sale Price source: 10% off an $80 sale price = $8 off → $72
If you expected one but configured the other, the discount amount will differ.
Check for Multiple Matching Promotions
If multiple promotions target the same product, the Product Discount Strategy (Ezhance → Settings) determines the outcome:
- Biggest Discount — Only the largest discount applies; smaller discounts are ignored
- Smallest Discount — Only the smallest discount applies
- Stack All — All matching discounts apply sequentially
If you have multiple promotions active, the final discount depends on this setting and which promotions match.
Check Promotion Priority
When multiple promotions match, higher-priority promotions are evaluated first. Priority affects how the discount strategy plays out when promotions offer different amounts.
Check Quantity Requirements
For Bulk Discounts, the discount tier that applies depends on the quantity in the cart. Buying 4 items when your tiers are 2–4 items (10%) and 5+ items (20%) gives you 10%, not 20%.
Check Cart Discount Strategy
For cart-level discounts, the Cart Discount Strategy (Ezhance → Settings) controls how multiple cart promotions interact. If you have both a percentage and a free shipping promotion, the strategy determines whether both apply.
Check Eligibility Rules
If a promotion is partially applying but with a different amount, verify that all eligibility rules are passing correctly. A promotion that partially qualifies isn't a scenario Ezhance supports — it either applies fully or doesn't apply at all.
Understand BOGO Discounts
Buy X Get X and Buy X Get Y promotions provide value through free or discounted additional products, not through a visible line-item price reduction on the original item. The discount may appear differently in the cart depending on how the reward is structured.
Common Scenarios
- Lower discount than expected — Check Price Source, Bulk Discount tiers, and whether "Biggest Discount" strategy is filtering out your promotion
- Higher discount than expected — Check whether "Stack All" is combining multiple promotions
- Correct product discount but wrong cart total — Check if a Cart Discount is also applying via a separate promotion
- Discount works for some customers but not others — Check customer conditions, purchase history, and eligibility rules
