Introduction #
If your Bulk Discount is not showing or applying correctly, the issue is usually caused by one of the following:
- The promotion is inactive
- The product does not match the target selection
- Quantity requirements have not been met
- Eligibility Rules are failing
- The promotion schedule is preventing activation
- Another promotion is taking priority
This guide will help you identify the most common causes and resolve them quickly.
How Bulk Discounts Work #
Bulk Discounts apply when a customer purchases a qualifying quantity of products.
Before a discount can appear, all of the following must be true:
✓ Promotion is Active
✓ Product matches Target Selection
✓ Quantity requirement is satisfied
✓ Eligibility Rules pass
✓ Promotion schedule allows activation
If any of these checks fail, the Bulk Discount will not appear.
Quick Checklist #
Before continuing, verify:
- Promotion status is Active
- Product is included in the Target Selection
- Customer quantity meets the discount tier
- Promotion dates are valid
- Eligibility Rules are satisfied
- No conflicting promotion is overriding the discount
Cause 1: Promotion Is Not Active #
Inactive promotions are ignored by Ezhance.
Problem:
The Bulk Discount was saved as Draft or Disabled.
Solution:
Open the promotion and verify that the status is Active.
Result:
Once activated, the promotion becomes eligible for evaluation.
Cause 2: Product Does Not Match Target Selection #
Bulk Discounts only apply to products included in the Target Selection.
Problem:
The customer is viewing a product that is not targeted.
Example:
Target Selection:
- Category = Hoodies
Customer Product:
- T-Shirt
Result:
The Bulk Discount does not appear.
Solution:
Verify that the product matches the configured target rules.
Cause 3: Quantity Requirement Has Not Been Reached #
Bulk Discounts only activate when customers reach the configured quantity tier.
Problem:
Customer quantity is below the minimum requirement.
Example:
Discount Tier:
Buy 5+
Customer Quantity:
3
Result:
No Bulk Discount is applied.
Solution:
Increase the quantity to meet the configured tier.
Cause 4: Eligibility Rules Are Failing #
Even if the quantity requirement is met, Eligibility Rules must still pass.
Problem:
A condition prevents the promotion from activating.
Example:
Condition:
Cart Subtotal greater than $100
Customer Cart:
$75
Result:
The Bulk Discount does not apply.
Solution:
Review all Eligibility Rules configured on the promotion.
Cause 5: Promotion Schedule Is Restricting the Promotion #
Promotions can have start and end dates.
Problem:
The promotion is outside its scheduled period.
Example:
Promotion Start Date:
December 1
Current Date:
November 25
Result:
The Bulk Discount is inactive.
Solution:
Verify the promotion schedule settings.
Cause 6: Product Is Excluded #
Exclusion rules override inclusion rules.
Problem:
The product has been excluded from the promotion.
Example:
Include:
- Hoodies
Exclude:
- Premium Hoodie
Result:
Premium Hoodie does not receive the Bulk Discount.
Solution:
Review exclusion rules within Target Selection.
Cause 7: Multiple Promotions Are Matching #
More than one promotion may apply to the same product.
Depending on your settings, another promotion may take priority.
Problem:
A higher-priority promotion is overriding the Bulk Discount.
Solution:
Review:
- Promotion Priority
- Product Discount Strategy
- Other active promotions
Cause 8: Customer Is Testing the Wrong Quantity #
Many Bulk Discounts are configured with multiple tiers.
Problem:
The customer expects a discount from a higher tier without meeting its quantity requirement.
Example:
Tier 1:
Buy 3+ → 10% Off
Tier 2:
Buy 5+ → 15% Off
Customer Quantity:
4
Result:
Customer receives Tier 1 pricing, not Tier 2.
Solution:
Verify the quantity required for each tier.
Cause 9: Cart Item Conditions Are Not Passing #
Some Bulk Discounts use Cart Item Conditions.
Problem:
The required products are not present in sufficient quantities.
Example:
Condition:
Products IN LIST:
- Cap
Quantity:
Greater than or equal to 5
Customer Cart:
- Cap × 2
- Hoodie × 5
Result:
Condition fails because only matching products are counted.
Solution:
Review Cart Item Conditions and matched quantity requirements.
Cause 10: Ezhance Pro Feature Is Being Used #
Some targeting and eligibility features require Ezhance Pro.
Problem:
The promotion relies on a Pro-only feature.
Examples:
- Product Categories
- Product Attributes
- Product Tags
- Customer Conditions
- Purchase History Conditions
Solution:
Verify that Ezhance Pro is installed and activated.

Test Each Tier Individually #
Add products to the cart one tier at a time and verify the expected discount appears.
